We build and operate our own products. Right now, that means Shelvio for online resellers.
Where the name came from
Martinsburg was a bird before it was a company.
A colorful macaw hung from our co-founders’ baby’s nursery mobile. It was the first part of the mobile to hold the baby’s attention, so they started calling the bird Martinsburg.
When they later needed a name for the company, they used it again. That is the whole story.
Right now
We’re building Shelvio.
Shelvio helps online resellers turn a batch of inventory into listings and keep track of each item through the sale.
We design, build, support, and operate the product ourselves. That keeps the feedback loop short and the responsibility with us.
How we work - The product has to hold up after the demo.
That means paying attention to the ordinary details: speed, clear defaults, reliable records, and fewer steps.
- Listen directly. We talk with the people using our products and use what they show us, not a generic roadmap, to decide what comes next.
- Solve the whole task. We follow the work past the obvious feature, including the unglamorous steps that make the product useful every day.
- Earn the complexity. Every feature should remove more work than it adds. If a simpler answer does the job, we take it.
